After a three-month construction phase, the Bharati research facility commenced operations in April 2012. The research facility is located in the north-eastern part of Antarctica, the Lasermann Hills region, in one of the coldest climates in the world. This means that it is cut off from the rest of the world for several months, which was a major challenge during construction. The collaborating companies had to handle all logistical tasks during the Arctic summer, as the station is only accessible by ship during the four summer month, after which it is cut off from the outside world. The production of the containers and the design of the whole research facility took place in Germany. (Source: www.heinze.de)
