The combination of past and modernity is visible in the Wien Museum through the inventory and the extraordinary architecture. Founded in 1887 as the Historical Museum of the City of Vienna, the municipal collections found a new home in the new building on Karlsplatz in 1959. A good 60 years later, the listed building was extensively renovated and extended according to the plans of the architectural team Winkler, Ruck and Certov: a striking extension made of glass and reinforced concrete now grows out of the old building. Inside, contemporary rooms invite visitors to exhibitions, events, workshops and catering. Since its reopening at the end of 2023, the new Wien Museum has been "a place to marvel, talk and learn", according to the initiators. Here you can experience the history of Vienna from the Neolithic Age to the present day through exhibits and admire important works of art.
Our fire protection curtains ➥ Fibershield®-E are also important for structural fire protection, ➥ Fibershield®-P and the thermally insulating fire protection curtain ➥ Fibershield®-I, which are installed here in multiple versions. In the event of a fire, they lower fully automatically and form room closures that prevent the flames and toxic fire gases from spreading to the building.
